Aftercare
Good care = a beautiful tattoo forever
Tattoo care
Tattoo care (first 14 days)
01.Protective film (0–4h)
Leave the protective film on for at least 4 hours. The film protects the fresh wound from bacteria and mechanical damage.
02.First wash
Remove the film and gently wash the tattoo with cool water and a mild unscented soap. Don't rub — just gently cleanse with your palms.
03.Bepanthen / Panthenol (5–7× daily)
Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen or similar balm. Skin should be moist but not smothered. Too much cream is as bad as too little.
04.What to avoid
Sun, tanning beds, pools, sea, sauna, heavy exercise (sweating) — for the first 14 days. All of these can damage the ink and slow healing.
05.Don't scratch, don't pick scabs
Flaking and scabs are a normal part of healing. Picking scabs can pull out ink and leave voids. Let them fall off naturally.
06.After 14 days
Continue moisturising for the next 6–8 weeks. In the sun — SPF 50+. Sun protection is a permanent commitment for any visible tattoo.
Piercing care (body)
Piercing care — body
01.Saline solution (twice daily)
Soak cotton or gauze in saline (0.9% NaCl) and gently clean around the piercing. Morning and evening — no skipping.
02.Don't touch with dirty hands
The only reason to touch the piercing is for cleaning, and only with washed hands. Hands are the main source of infection.
03.Don't rotate the jewellery
The old advice to 'rotate your jewellery' is wrong. Rotation damages healing tissue. Leave the jewellery alone.
04.Healing times
Earlobe: 6–8 weeks. Helix/tragus: 6–9 months. Septum: 6–8 weeks. Navel: 6–12 months. Nipples: 9–12 months. Surface: 4–6 months.
05.Signs of infection
Mild swelling and redness are normal in the first days. If you develop severe pain, green/yellow discharge, or fever — contact us immediately.
06.Jewellery change
Don't change your initial jewellery until the piercing is fully healed. Come to us for the first change — many people complicate healing by changing too early.
Piercing care (oral)
Piercing care — mouth and tongue
01.Rinse after every meal
Rinse with Chlorhexidine mouthwash or saline after every meal and before bed — for 14 days. No alcohol-based mouthwash.
02.Food and drink
Avoid hot food and drinks for the first 7 days. Spicy food, dairy, and alcohol slow healing and increase infection risk.
03.Smoking
Smoking significantly slows healing. If you can't stop, reduce as much as possible and rinse after every cigarette.
04.Playing with the jewellery
Don't play with it, don't click it against your teeth. Clicking leads directly to tooth cracks and disrupted healing.
05.Kissing and intimacy
Wait at least 4 weeks. Another person's saliva carries bacteria — the infection risk is real.
06.External part (labret/eyebrow)
Clean the external side with saline twice daily, the same as any body piercing.
